Frequently Asked Questions

📋 Before Your Appointment

Bring a current, valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID) and your documents unsigned. I'll bring everything else — stamps, seals, and journal.

Are you available now? How quickly can you come?

Same-day appointments are often available. I serve clients 7 days a week including evenings. For urgent needs, call or text: (650) 427-9062.

How much does mobile notary service cost?

Base service is $100, which includes travel to your location and up to 2 notarized signatures. Additional signatures are $15 each (set by California law). Hospital visits, same-day service, and after-hours appointments may have additional fees. All pricing is quoted upfront before scheduling. Call for an exact quote: (650) 427-9062.

What forms of identification are acceptable?

Acceptable IDs include: California driver's license or ID card, U.S. passport, foreign passport with U.S. immigration stamp, state-issued driver's license, U.S. military ID, or employee ID from a California state agency. IDs must be current or issued within the last 5 years. Learn more at CA Secretary of State.

What if I don't have a valid ID?

You can use two credible witnesses who: know you personally, are not named in the document, present valid ID themselves, and swear to the notary that they know you. More details here.

Do I need to sign in front of you?

It depends on the notarization type:

Acknowledgment: You're confirming a signature is yours and was made willingly. You can sign beforehand — most real estate documents, powers of attorney, and trusts use this type.

Jurat: You're swearing under oath that the document's contents are true. You must sign in my presence — affidavits and sworn statements use this type.

Not sure which you need? Bring your documents unsigned and I'll guide you through the right process.

Do you provide witnesses?

Yes. Some documents (like certain estate planning documents) require witnesses in addition to notarization. I can provide professional witnesses for an additional fee. Let me know when scheduling.

Do you notarize at hospitals, nursing homes, or jails?

Yes. I regularly serve clients at hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and hospice centers. For jail notarizations, please call to discuss specific requirements and facility access. Hospital and facility visits may have additional travel fees.

What if I cannot write or sign my name?

California law allows "Signature by Mark." You can make a mark (such as an X or thumbprint) in my presence. Two witnesses must also be present to verify your mark — I can provide witnesses if needed. This is commonly used in hospitals, nursing homes, and for clients with disabilities. Learn more about Signature by Mark.

Can you provide legal advice about my documents?

No. As a notary public, I cannot provide legal advice, draft legal documents, or recommend what documents you should sign. I can only verify your identity and witness your signature. For legal advice, please consult a licensed attorney.
